Pictured here on the left at his home Happy Lodge in Pokfulam with poker buddies and fellow real estate developers Cheng Yu-Tung (鄭裕彤)and Lee Shau-Kee (李兆基). For many decades, Cecil represented the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong (REDA) as a key opinion leader and vocal advocate to support the sustainable economic growth and development of the city.
A newspaper clipping from 1997 capturing Li Ka-shing bombarding his good friend with endless questions on principles of flight. Cecil himself took lessons in helicopter flying but never took the flying test, a task he left up to his daughter Gigi (Gi) to complete on his behalf and fly him to see remote parts of Hong Kong as he required. She was his designated pilot and enjoyed advising him on choices of aircraft whenever he felt like going shopping.
Opening of the Regent Club
Hilton Cheong-Leen, CBE, JP (張有興) was a dear friend and came to celebrate the opening. His daughter Flora and Gi also became good friends later as well as her daughter Claudine Ying. This was the start of how three generations formed lasting friendships in the social venues of Hong Kong
Gi the Recluse
Obviously from a young age, Cecil took her everywhere, on television shows, attending press conferences and met with politicians and dignitaries. However, Gi suffered from intense shyness and found crowds intimidating for most of her life. To overcome her introversion, she challenged herself by starting her own PR consultancy. In this photo is also Christina LEE, Look Ngan (利孝和夫人) and Lily Ho (何莉莉).
